Description
It was when I made this soup for the very first time that I met my friend saffron. For those of you who aren’t familiar with this exotic spice please allow me to introduce her:
She is the dried “stigma” or threads of the flower of the crocus sativus plant.
She contains several plant-derived chemical compounds that are known to have been anti-oxidant, disease preventing, and health promoting properties.
Without saffron showing up to this soup party, it’s just another chickpea soup.
